A Fresh Perspective of Asphalt 3 [December-2022]
Asphalt 3: Street Rules has continued to take the series even deeper underground in the exhilarating world of street racing. In an effort to provide a more exciting racing experience, the team wanted to take advantage of the latest technology introduced in 2006.
The 3D version of the game is specially designed to embrace this spirit. To take full advantage of the extra dimension, the team used a dynamic camera. Since the tracks and cars are no longer flat, the view can easily rotate and move to create a more exciting race.
Aside from creating tracks at various altitudes, the use of Asphalt 3: Street Rules 3D was most notable after high-speed tricks attracted the player to the attention of a TV helicopter. When this happens, the camera will retract to give a few moments of controlled movement from the helicopter’s perspective. This gave a completely different, more cinematic feel to the movement.
Of course, this new perspective added challenges. Details of each track and vehicle need to be clearer to withstand the greatest scrutiny players can get from multiple perspectives. Fourteen years later, it might be hard to fully appreciate how well the game did at this, but by 2006, it looked amazing on phones.
Even more asphalt Game
Beyond the visual flair, the 2D version was very close to the 3D version in terms of features. The team didn’t want to compromise seeing them anywhere they didn’t have it.
Both versions of Asphalt 3 include fourteen tracks, located in seven distinct locations around the planet. Contestants were taking to the streets of Honolulu, San Francisco, Saint Petersburg, Las Vegas, Rome, Bombay and Tokyo, on their global journey.
However, if that doesn’t offer enough variety, Asphalt 3rd Edition also includes five different game modes designed to maximize the game’s life. The first of these was the record race, where players attempt to reach the finish line first in a traditional competition. Likewise, Duel Mode only wants you to cross the finish line first – only this time against one opponent.
